Introduction to Design – Bootcamp Overview

Mission
Our mission is to equip aspiring designers with the skills, mindset, and tools to pursue careers in design. The course helps students learn design fundamentals, practice applied creativity, and build a portfolio using Figma.

Course Structure
This is a structured, 10-week, curriculum-based program combining recorded lessons, live mentor-led sessions, and assignments. Students progress through seven modules covering visualisation, sketching, creativity, design principles, UI/UX basics, and strategy. Each module includes hands-on projects, peer reviews, and mentor feedback.

Software
Figma is integrated into every stage of the course:

- Design exploration & prototyping: wireframes, interfaces, prototypes.

- Portfolio development: each student builds a personal portfolio in Figma.

- Collaboration & feedback: Figma’s multiplayer features enable critique, teamwork, and iteration.

10-Week Curriculum

Week 1 – Foundations of Design Thinking
Introduction to design as problem-solving. Students explore empathy, observation, and brainstorming while creating mood boards and idea maps in Figma.

Week 2 – Visualization & Sketching for Designers
Covers visualization techniques and sketching exercises. Students move ideas into Figma for refinement.

Week 3 – Elements & Principles of Design
Explores balance, hierarchy, contrast, and grids. Students apply principles through poster design assignments submitted in Figma.

Week 4 – Creativity & Concept Development
Focus on generating ideas and building creative confidence. Students experiment with typography, shapes, and color in Figma challenges.

Week 5 – Introduction to UI & Interaction Design
Students study UI components (buttons, toggles, cards, navigation) and design low-fidelity wireframes in Figma.

Week 6 – Information Architecture & User Flows
Learners create sitemaps and user flows in Figma to design intuitive journeys.

Week 7 – Designing for Devices & Accessibility
Covers responsive design for mobile, tablet, and desktop, along with accessibility standards. Students test layouts in Figma.

Week 8 – Prototyping & Feedback Loops
Students build interactive prototypes in Figma, share them for critique, and iterate with feedback.

Week 9 – Building a Personal Portfolio
Each student crafts a design portfolio in Figma, compiling projects with emphasis on storytelling and presentation.

Week 10 – Final Showcase & Reflection
Students present their portfolios and final projects in Figma, receiving mentor and peer feedback. The program ends with reflections and future pathways.

Portfolio Project

Each student completes one comprehensive portfolio project. The brief is personalized to their interests—ranging from UI/UX to product or communication design. Mentors guide students through defining the problem, prototyping, and final presentation. The project is executed entirely in Figma, resulting in a showcase-ready case study.

Career Opportunities Disclaimer

The Introduction to Design bootcamp is strictly educational. While students graduate with strong foundations and a professional portfolio project, the program does not guarantee internships or job placements. Opportunities beyond the course depend on individual merit and effort.

Admissions

Enrollment is first-come, first-served, capped at 40 students per cohort. Additional applicants are placed on a waitlist for the next batch.

Our instructors are mentors with proven design expertise, providing practical insights, structured guidance, and industry-relevant feedback throughout the course every week.
